In the year of its 120th anniversary, the Metropol Hotel in Moscow is proud to open new rooms for guests.
The Signature rooms are the newest in the Metropol collection. They are presented in several categories: 'Executive' and 'Grand Superior', 'Deluxe' and 'Deluxe Suite'. Soon guests can book to the spacious 'Premier' suites.
The rooms were created by the world-famous design bureau Denniston, whose portfolio contains projects for luxury hotel brands Aman Hotels & Resorts, Four Seasons and Cheval Blanc.
Denniston's primary specialty is hotel
architecture and design. Its founder and Chief Architect is Jean-Michel Gathy.
Founded in 1983, Denniston has been inspired by the genius of Mr. Gathy since
its inception. He is the company’s chief designer and personally conceptualizes
all of the design bureau’s projects. In April 2006, Jean-Michel was appointed
to the Platinum Circle of Hotel Design and honored as a distinguished industry
figure whose career and achievements have made a significant contribution to
the development of the global hospitality industry.
Over more than 40 years, the bureau’s architects and designers have produced many famous projects that have become true masterpieces of architecture and design, including: Aman Venice Canal Grande, Aman Hotel New York, Marina Bay Sands Singapore, and One&Only Portonovi Montenegro. The secret to the bureau’s success lies in the creation of individual project teams and, as mentioned above, Mr. Gathy’s personal oversight of projects.
While working on the creation of our new Signature rooms, Jean-Michel Gathy has been on numerous business trips to Moscow as part of the design delegation, and has studied in great detail not only the architecture of the Metropol Hotel but also its rich visual and historical heritage.
The renovated rooms have become a reflection of the Metropol today: they honor its history, but are also contemporary, with a confident look to the future and ready to offer guests the best,
The Signature rooms are like books, telling visual stories that convey to guests the values of continuity and respect for the Metropol Hotel’s historical legacy. Touch a wardrobe handle and you can see in it the first letter of the grand hotel’s name, in the form of a monogram, lift your gaze to the high ceilings and you will see that it still retains its original tent-like form (a reference to the shape of the restaurant's historic dome), where the ceiling is not just a flat space with four right angles, but has vaults at the base that support the main surface. The flowing lines of the matching furniture and the patterns* on the doors, designed by the Denniston design bureau, reflect the elegance of Art Nouveau, and the crystal pendants on the bedside light fittings and on the chandeliers hung with spheres in the living rooms complement the solemnity of the interiors.
The color schemes in the Signature rooms are based on the Art Nouveau style, and combine bright and pastel shades. The printed silk wallpaper panels create dynamism, while the wood panels fill the space with texture. The chosen design highlights the concept of a timeless interior, with sleek lines and the decorative details give the interiors an Art Nouveau aesthetic. This reflects the character of the Metropol Hotel today: a classic example of Russian hospitality with a rich historical heritage, a confident look to the future and the same faithfulness to the principles of innovation and artistic vision as 120 years ago.
All the rooms are thoughtfully and
functionally zoned. In the basic categories, Executive and Grand Superior, guests
will find a work and rest area, a King Size bed, a Smart Home control system
and useful, premium brand household appliances. Special attention should be
paid to the bathrooms, the area of which have been significantly expanded to at
least 10m2.
Italian marble
finishes, heated floors, tropical showers, and a soaking tub in Grand Superior
and above. The higher categories of suites – Deluxe and Deluxe Suite – include
living rooms and dressing rooms.
Some of the renovated rooms offer views of the hotel's inner courtyards, allowing guests to escape the noise of the capital and be alone with themselves. Among them are three unique rooms with private patios, where guests can enjoy breakfast or simply read a favorite book outdoors in warm weather. The view of Moscow beloved by many Metropol guests has returned, along with the opportunity to admire the vibrant life of the capital: the ruby stars of the Moscow Kremlin, the State Historical Museum and the Bolshoi Theatre.
